Józef Kossakowski (bishop)

Joseph Casimir Korwin Kossakowski ( born March 16, 1738May 9, 1794 in Warsaw) was Bishop of Livonia, suffragan of Trakai and Vilnius coadjutor, founder of St. Apostle James Church in Jonava, poet, playwright, Memuarist, Translator and participants of the bar Confederation and Targowica Confederation.

Life

Joseph studied at the Jesuit school in Kaunas and Vilnius Academy, after which he formed in Vilnius and Warsaw, where he graduated from the seminary in 1763.

On March 13, 1775 he was ordained Titular Bishop of Cinna, as of September 17, 1781 he was actuated as Bishop of Livonia.
