Juan de Colonia

John of Cologne or Spanish Juan de Colonia (* probably around 1410 in Cologne, † before August 3, 1481 ) was an architect of the Gothic.

About his life outside of his work in Spain, little is known. He was probably brought by Bishop Alonso de Cartagena to Burgos and worked as an architect at the Cathedral of Burgos. He married the Spaniard Maria Ferrandes. From this marriage six children were born; among them was Simon of Cologne, who continued the construction of the cathedral after the death of his father.
