Juergen B. Donges

Juergen Donges Bernardo ( born October 24, 1940 in Seville ) was until his retirement in February 2007 Professor of Economic Policy at the University of Cologne.

Career

After a merchant, he studied economics at the University of Saarland in Saarbrücken, and made his diploma in 1966. In 1969 he completed his doctorate at the same university. 1969-89 he studied at the Institute for the World Economy Kiel, 1979, he was appointed Honorary Professor. 1989-2007 he was Professor of Political Economy and Economic Policy at the University of Cologne, where one of the directors of the Economic Policy Institute.

Donges is a representative of the regulatory approach to economic policy. He has a particular interest in issues of the Spanish economy and published a series of articles in Spanish-language magazines. He is a member of the Royal Academy of Economic and Financial Sciences of Spain and, since 2003, the North Rhine- Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts. 1992-2002 he was a member of the Advisory Council on the Assessment of Overall Economic Development (" five- way " ), from 2000 to 2002 as chairman. He was from 1990 to 2011 Member of Kronberger Kreis, the scientific advisory board of the Market Economy Foundation, as well as ambassadors of the Initiative for a New Social Market Economy. He was one of 136 German economics professors, including Roland Vaubel, Hans -Werner Sinn, Bernd Lucke, Manfred JM Neumann, Georg Milbradt that shortly before the parliamentary elections in September 2013 in a call to the European Central Bank ( ECB) unlawful monetary state financing accused.
