Juvelize

Juvelize is a commune with 88 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of Château- Salins and the canton of Vic- sur- seille.

Geography

The municipality is located in Juvelize Saulnois, about eight kilometers south-east of Château- Salins.

History

The village was first mentioned in 1160 as Giverlize, from the year 1594 the German name Gerskirch is occupied. In 1661, they came to France.

1871-1918 it belonged to the German Empire and was officially renamed in 1915-18 Spirit church. During the German occupation in the Second World War, the village was called spirit churches, on 22 September 1944, was badly damaged again liberated.
