Kaarlo Mäkinen

Kaarlo Edvin Mäkinen ( born May 14, 1892 in Mariehamn, † 11 May 1980, Turku ) was a Finnish wrestler ( bantamweight ) and Olympic champion.

In the Summer Olympics 1924, he won a silver medal behind compatriot Kustaa Pihlajamäki and before the Americans Bryant Hines. At the Olympic Games in Amsterdam in 1928 he won the gold medal in front of the Belgians and Canadians James Edmond Spappen Trifunov. He wrestled for the club Turun Riento.
