Kai Tracid

Kai Tracid, real name Kai Franz, also known under the pseudonym Kai MacDonald, ( born January 17, 1972 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German music producer and DJ. His productions move between the genres Trance and Acid, this is also where his stage name is derived, which is a mixed word of two terms.

Musical development

Tracid began in the late 1980s, his work as a DJ. He first put on hip-hop, however, was soon brought out of friends with the still young techno movement in contact. A little later he sold his DJ equipment and started his first steps as a music producer.

His first publications appeared in 1995 under the pseudonyms Acut Genius, Formic Acid, Mac Acid and WOW In the same year he founded with Frank Ellrich the project A * S * Y * S. In addition, he produced remixes for famous Euro Dance projects as La Bouche, Culture Beat and No Mercy.

Achievements

The first album under the name Kai Tracid was called " So Simple " and appeared in 1996. First commercial successes he recorded but only a year later with the single " Your Own Reality " which made ​​it to number 22 in the German single charts. As part of his success Tracid also took his DJ career again. Published in 1998 the singles " Dance For Eternity " and " Liquid Skies " which have achieved similar success as "Your Own Reality ." In the same year Tracid was nominated for the VIVA Comet. In addition, he founded the record label Tracid Traxxx, which served as a musical home for his numerous projects in the following years and quickly developed into a style-defining hard- trance label. Tracids first album " Skywalker 1999 " published in 1999.

His greatest successes came in the following years with singles like " Too Many Times " and "Life Is Too Short " (both 2001). The latter is based on the melody of " flight on the luck dragon " by Klaus Doldinger, which appeared in The Neverending Story on the soundtrack of the film. "Life Is Too Short " was Tracids first top 10 hit in the German single charts.

In 2002 he released his second album " Trance & Acid". End of the year, the single " 4 Just 1 Day" was released, the album was followed by " Contemplate ( The Reason You Exist ) " 2003. In contrast to the single but the album failed to match earlier successes.

Tracid devoted himself to other projects such as the Tracid - Traxxx sublabel " Acid Files" on which he published along with Rob Acid, Mike van Dijk and Ramon Zenker Acid productions and thereupon withdrew from the public.

Today

In December 2006, he announced a musical change and another album entitled " Immortal - Studioworx 2003-2006 " at, stepped out of the project A * S * Y * S and closed at first his label Tracid Traxxx to make it a short time later as minimal techno label to revive it. It was followed by two singles, however, remained largely unnoticed by the general public.

The announced album is not released until today.
