Kakhovka Reservoir

He has a size of 2155 km ² and holds 18.2 billion cubic meters of water.

Chance finds the wrong information, the reservoir contained 182 billion cubic meters Kachowkaer which he (but only after Victoria ) would be the largest reservoir in the world. Here you really must have missed by a factor of 10 (see web link below).

The reservoir was built from 1947 to 1955 under the city Zaporizhia and is named after the nearby town on the banks Kachowka. It is located in the three counties Ukrainian Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia and Kherson. Because of its vast dimensions, it is also called "sea". It took two years for the 240- km long dam was filled. Its water is used for irrigation and allows the cultivation of wine, fruit and rice.

Kachowka HES

The shut-off and water power plant Kachowka HES46.777228333.3707142 (Ukrainian Каховська ГідроЕлектроСтанція / Kachowska HidroElektroStanzija, Russian Каховская ГЭС, Kakhovskaya GES) is Nowa Kachowka and consists of a combination of a gravity dam with a dam from bulk material. Together they are 3629 m long, of which the dam is to have a share of 2,970 m, and the wall of 437 m (which does not result in exactly 3629 m in total though). About the causeway leads the territorial road T-47, which connects both Dneprufer together. The plant belongs to the Ukrainian company " ОАО Ukrhidroenerho " ( Укргідроенерго ).

Geography

The Dnieper runs after leaving the dam toward the west, passes Kherson and flows into the Black Sea. Above the Kachowkaer reservoir near Zaporizhia, there is another reservoir ( Dneprostroi or " Dnieper Reservoir ") with a hydroelectric power plant, the " DniproHES ". The Dnepr Krivoy - Rog Channel and the North - Crimean channel take on the reservoir their early lead and drinking water to the city of Krivoy Rog and on the Crimean peninsula.
