Kamenec pod VtáÄnikom
Kamenec pod Vtáčnikom ( Kamenetz German, Hungarian Kemenec ) is a municipality in western Slovakia with 1840 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011), which belongs to Okres Prievidza, a part of the Trenčín Region.
Geography
The municipality is located in the valley Hornonitrianska kotlina along the streams and creek Lazny Vidlicový creek, which open into the Nitra in the neighboring Zemianske Kostoľany. The name refers to the mountain Vtáčnik ( 1346 m nm), the highest peak in the same mountains, extend its foothills in the place. The center is located at an altitude of 275 m nm and is 16 kilometers from Prievidza and 18 kilometers away from Partizánske.
History
Today's church was built in 1955 by the merger of places Dolny Kamenec ( German Unterkamenetz ) and of Horny Kamenec ( German Oberkamenetz ).
The district of Horny Kamenec was first mentioned in writing in 1355. A little later the lower part (first mentioned 1518), which remained separate for unknown reasons and at a manor independently developed despite common belonging to the 20th century originated.

Infrastructure
The village has a grocery store, a post office, a kindergarten and a primary school. About a county road is following the state road 64 in the three- km drive away Zemianske Kostoľany; a station on the railway line Nové Zámky - Prievidza is also located there.
