Kanafeh

Knafeh (Arabic كنافة, DMG Kunafa, also Kanafa, Kanafeh ) is an Arabic sweet made with a special cheese and Kadaifi.

Originally, the dessert comes from the Palestinian city of Nablus. Meanwhile, however, belongs Knafeh to the entire Arab cuisine with different types of production. Likewise Knafeh is known in some countries in the Balkans and in Turkey.

There are three different types of Knafeh:

  • Khishneh (Arabic خشنه ), essential features of this variant are the noodle-like threads of Kadaifi.
  • Na'ama (Arabic ناعمة ), a fine variant using semolina.
  • Mhayara (Arabic محيرة ), a mixture of the two previous versions.

In general, the Knafeh is überträufelt before serving with warm sugar syrup (so-called " Ater ").
