Karl Daub

Carl Daub ( born March 20, 1765 in Kassel, † November 22, 1836 in Heidelberg ) was a German Protestant theologian.

Carl Daub attended the Gymnasium in Kassel and studied from 1786 in Marburg philology, philosophy and theology. In 1794 he became professor of philosophy at the High School in Hanau, in 1795 professor of theology in Heidelberg. Under the influence of Hegel Daub later became the chief representative of the speculative restoration of orthodox dogma and opponent Friedrich Schleiermacher. A reputation to Kassel as rector of the grammar school in 1802, he refused as well as how a year later called to Würzburg. In May 1805 he was appointed to the Council of Churches. In 1806 he became a member of the Masonic Lodge for Carl Good Hope in Heidelberg.
