Karl Gottfried Paul Döhle

Karl Gottfried Paul Döhle ( born June 6 1855 in Mühlhausen / Thuringia, † December 7, 1928 in Kiel ) was a German pathologist.

Journey

Paul Döhle studied in Tübingen, Leipzig, Strasbourg and Kiel medicine. In Kiel he received his doctorate in 1882. In 1883 he became assistant to Arnold Ludwig Heller at the Pathological Institute of the University of Kiel. Until his retirement in 1924 remained at Kiel University. In 1889 he qualified as a professor in pathology. In 1896 he became a professor at the Institute of Pathology. In 1908 he took over the management.

The Dohle bodies ( inclusions in leukocytes), which he discovered at 30 scarlet fever patients in 1911, are named after him. Also the Döhle Heller 's syndrome ( a late symptom of syphilis) bears his name.
