Karl Heinrich Graf

Karl Heinrich Graf ( born February 28, 1815 in Mulhouse, † July 16, 1869 in Meissen ) was a German Protestant theologian ( Old Testament ) and orientalist.

He studied from 1833 to 1837 theology and oriental languages ​​in Strasbourg ( particularly with Eduard Reuss ) and then worked until 1843 as a private tutor in Paris, from 1847 at the St. State School Afra in Meissen. He is next to Abraham Kuenen as an important pioneer of Modern documentary hypothesis, the Hermann Hupfeld has developed and Julius Wellhausen further substantiated.

In addition, Graf has been dealing with Persian literature and some works of the poet Saadi also translated into German.
