Kathrin Röggla

Kathrin Röggla ( born June 14, 1971 in Salzburg) is an Austrian writer. She writes prose, plays and theater texts and take part in productions of plays and performances.

Life

Röggla studied from 1989 German Literature and Journalism at the University of Salzburg, from 1992 in Berlin. Since 1988 she is active in the literary public, especially in the context of the Salzburg group of authors, the Salzburg workshop literature and the literary magazine " erostepost " in which it was from 1990 to 1992 on the editorial board.

Since 1990 Röggla published literature, first in literary magazines and anthologies. In 1995, their first independent release, no one laughs back. Written since 1998 and it produces works for radio (radio plays, sound installations, network radio), including convextv for Bayerischer Rundfunk and for the Berlin web radio collective. Since 2002, she also writes for the theater.

In her texts she works according to information frequently across all media, with documentary methods, the means of comedy and irony, experimental and spoke critically and with the orality of Scripture.

My play " The parties " was premiered on April 19, 2009 at the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus. It is a media-critical dramatization of the events after the self-liberation of Natascha Kampusch. Six "experts " figures demonstrate their understanding in the public interest, which abruptly disappears when the topical value no longer pulls. Kampusch proves to be smarter than their "advisors". The staging of Stephan Rottkamp got a standing ovation from the audience.

In May 2012, Röggla was appointed as a new member of the Academy of Arts in Berlin, the choice of which she accepted. An active membership requires that artists participate actively in the tasks of the Academy, so that they will show more presence in the future of the Academy.
