Kazys Morkūnas

Kazys Morkūnas ( born March 4, 1925 in Žiežmariai, Trakai district, now Rajongemeinde Kaišiadorys; † January 22, 2014 in Vilnius ) was a Lithuanian stained glass artists.

Life

From 1946 to 1951 Morkūnas studied at the Department of Decorative and monumental painting of the Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts in Kaunas. In 1952 he graduated at Stasys Ušinskas at Lietuvos Dailes institutas ( LDI). From 1953 he taught at LDI. From 1977 to 1985 and from 1993 to 1997 he was Head of the Department of Drawing. From 1976 he was a professor.

1953 developed Morkūnas developed one of the first experimental glass windows of several thin fused glass layers. Early stained glass is by realistic figurative painting with decorations ( " Taika žemėje ", 1955; " Jūratė and Kastytis " 1956 " Subatos vakarėlį ", 1959) marked. From the seventh decade took Morkūnas bullion component of glass, combined with concrete, glass combined with various textures ( " Pirčiupis ", 1962).

His works are in the Museum fortas IX in Kaunas Cathedral Vilkaviškis J.Baltrušaitis School in Moscow, in the Punskas - school, in the church Utena, at the Seimas building.
