Keith Jones (ice hockey)

Keith Linden Jones ( born November 8, 1968 in Brantford, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player and current sports reporter, among other things, for the Washington Capitals, Colorado Avalanche and Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League during his playing career 1988-2000 has played the position of right winger. Since 2005 he has worked as an expert for the NHL TV channel Versus, TSN and Comcast SportsNet.

Career

Jones played during his junior time in the lower leagues of the Province of Ontario at the Paris Mounties and Niagara Falls Canucks. Nevertheless, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1988 in the seventh round at 141 instead of the Washington Capitals. Despite his age of nearly 20 years, the attacker moved in the fall of 1988 but not yet in the professional sector, but pursued a course of study at Western Michigan University. During his four years there until 1992, he played in parallel for the ice hockey team of the University in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association, one of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division. There, Jones played in the first three years together with Mike Eastwood. In his last season Jones was top scorer of the team and was called to the First All - Star Team of the CCHA.

Even before the end of the 1991/92 season joined the now 23 -year-old in the professional sector and played for the Baltimore Skipjacks. The Skipjacks were at that time, the farm team of the Washington Capitals in the American Hockey League. There, Jones began the 1992/93 season, but was soon recalled to NHL squad of capital because of its benefits. Until shortly after the start of the 1996 /97 power forward remained in the capital, but injuries put him back again and again, so that did not fulfill the hopes placed in him the Capitals. November 2, 1996 Jones was delivered together with a first- and fourth- round vote in the NHL Entry Draft in 1998 in exchange for Chris Simon and Curtis Leschyshyn to the Colorado Avalanche. A lengthy knee injury was Jones but the games in the second round of the Stanley Cup play-offs in 1997 and miss large parts of the game in 1997 /98. He returned only to the 1998/99 season fully recovered in the cadre of Avalanche back, but had no more use for the striker. On November 12 1998 she exchanged Jones against Shjon Podein of the Philadelphia Flyers.
