Kentau

Kentau (Russian / Kazakh Кентау ) is an industrial city in the territory of South Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan with about 60 799 inhabitants ( 2008). It lies at the foot of Qaratau Schotasy.

History

The town was founded in 1955 on the site of the former settlement Mirgalimsaj ( Миргалимсай ).

Economy

In the vicinity of metal ores Kentau be encouraged. Another major employer is a transformer manufacturer.
