Kentish Town station

Kentish Town is a railway station in the London Borough of Camden. It is located in the Travelcard Zone 2 at the Kentish Town Road. Below the station is an underground station of the London Underground. In the year 2011 there were 7.21 million subway passengers the station, added 1.377 million passengers by rail.

The station is above ground and is on the Thameslink route between Bedford in the north and Brighton in the south. Here hold local trains of the company, First Capital Connect, which offers an S -Bahn - similar traffic across central London. The metro station is underground and is served by trains of the Northern Line towards High Barnet.

History

The Midland Railway (MR ) opened the station in 1868, when she took the route to their new main railway station St Pancras on the edge of central London in operation. Before MR trains running on lines of other companies had to Euston and King's Cross. North of the station Kentish Town there was the second largest locomotive depot of MR.

The Charing Cross, Euston and Hampstead Railway ( predecessor company of the Northern Line ) opened the subway station on June 22, 1907. The building, designed by Leslie Green station building is glazed with red terracotta tiles a typical example of the systems of this era. From the southern end of the platforms from the closed since 1924 South Kentish Town station is recognizable.
