First Capital Connect

First Capital Connect is a British railway company. It is a subsidiary of First Group and became operational on 1 April 2006. First Capital Connect combines the route networks of two companies, whose concession expired on that day. This is on the one hand the running across London Thameslink network, on the other hand, to the network of Wagn on the East Coast Main Line from London towards Peterborough, Cambridge and King's Lynn.

The two route networks were (formerly Thameslink 2000) merged with regard to the Thameslink expansion program. Are planned increases in capacity and a better integration of the former Wagn network with Thameslink. Although there are no firm commitments with regard to financing, the concessions in 2006 were merged. This is to ensure that the management of both subnets can be unified until the completion of the expansion program. The concession will initially run until 2015 and will then be put out to tender again.
