Northern Rail operates a dense network of numerous regional connections in northern England, from Carlisle and Newcastle upon Tyne in the north to Stoke -on-Trent and Nottingham in the south and several hundred smaller stations in the big cities Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield and Doncaster connect.
