Kew Jaliens

Kew Jaliens ( born September 15, 1978 in Rotterdam) is a Dutch football player.

Career

After Kew Jaliens had played at various clubs around his hometown of Rotterdam, he received in 1996 for the first time a professional contract with Sparta Rotterdam in the first division. Twice the 18- year-old came back in the Eredivisie used. But already in the following two years he was a fixture in the Sparta defense. Shortly after the start of the season 1999, he moved to league rivals Willem II Tilburg, where he was the next five years also regular players.

In 2004 he followed his coach and his defensive colleagues Joris Mathijsen to ambitious AZ Alkmaar. Also thanks to the new defensive formation it was in 2005 and 2006 even third championship runner-up. In 2009 he was with Dutch Alkmaar champions and won the 2010 Dutch Supercup.

From January 2011 to 2013 he played in Poland Wisła Kraków and won the Polish Cup in 2011. In August 2013 he joined the Australian A- League club Newcastle United Jets.

National

On 1 March 2006 he was employed for the first time in the Dutch national team. He was next to Joris Mathijsen and Tim de Cler to Alkmaar defense trio in the squad of the Netherlands for the World Cup 2006. For the 2008 Summer Olympics he was appointed to the Netherlands squad.
