Khamti people

The Tai Kham Ti ( Khamti ) are an ethnic group that lives in the north of Myanmar and Thailand. You see yourself along with eleven other than Shan.

Origin

In Burma, the Kham Ti are located in the northern Shan State and Kachin State, inhabit primarily mountain regions.

They originally lived near the sources of the Irrawaddy. The great conquests of Shan by Indochina were escorted out by a similar movement to Assam. The first immigrants there the Ahom ( Aham ), the 1554 Brahmanism assumptions and are gradually absorbed into the Hindu population appeared.

The Kham Ti broke first one 1780-1790. In 1839 they rebelled against the British government. One last peaceful immigration was then around 1850.
