Kientzheim

Kientzheim ( German Kienzheim ) is a municipality with 747 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the canton of Kaysersberg in the department of Haut-Rhin in Alsace region of France. She is a member of the Communauté de communes de la Vallée de Kaysersberg. The church is not to be confused with the about 30 km north Kintzheim lying in the department of Bas -Rhin.

Geography

Kientzheim is on the edge of the Vosges, at the outlet of the white from the mountains in the Upper Rhine Valley. The municipality is part of the Regional Natural Park of Ballons des Vosges. The village is located about ten kilometers north-west of the city center of Colmar. Immediate neighboring communities of Kientzheim are Sigolsheim, Ammerschwihr and Kaysersberg.

History

Kientzheim was mentioned as early as the 8th century Chonesheim in a goods classification of the Abbey of Fulda, which included lands here.
