Kill Devil Hill (band)

Kill Devil Hill is an American heavy metal band. The band was founded in 2009 and is under contract with SPV. The discography of the band consists of two studio albums.

History

The guitarist Mark Zavon, previously in bands like WASP or WWIII played, took over in 2009, a demo with singer Jason " Dewey " Bragg (ex Pissing Razors ). Zavon played the former Black Sabbath and Dio drummer Vinny Appice - before the demo, loved the Appice. Together with former Dio bassist Jimmy Bain worked the musicians on the songs on. Bain could not join as a permanent member due to other commitments. For the former Pantera and Down bassist Rex Brown got in, who is friends with Appice for a long time. The band name is derived from the village of Kill Devil Hills in North Carolina, where the Wright Brothers performed the first controlled powered flights in the world in the early 20th century.

On 29 April 2011, the band played their first concert in Hollywood. It was followed by a longer -month tour in which the band also played a few songs alongside their own cover versions. In September 2011 Kill Devil Hill signed a contract with the German record label SPV. Under the guidance of producer Warren Riker, the band recorded their self-titled debut album, which was originally intended to be published in March 2012. Kill Devil Hill was finally published on 25 May 2012. In May 2012 Kill Devil Hill went along with Adrenaline Mob on U.S. tour, in which both bands first played their own songs, before the musicians of both bands completed a joint jam session. In September 2012 a European tour was planned with the Norwegian hard rock band Audrey Horne, which had to be canceled, however. The new album Revolution Rise was released in October 2013. In March 2014 Vinny Appice announced his departure. Successor is Johnny Kelly (Danzig, Type O Negative).

Style

Drummer Vinny Appice described the music of Kill Devil Hill as a mixture of Black Sabbath, Alice in Chains and some Led Zeppelin.
