Kim Stanley Robinson

Kim Stanley Robinson ( born March 23, 1952 in Waukegan, Illinois) is an American science fiction author.

Life

In 1974, Robinson from a study of literature, 1975, he took on an English Literature degree. His first science fiction story Coming Back To Dixieland was published in 1976 by ​​Damon Knight in his Orbit anthology series. In 1982 she received her doctorate in literature with a thesis on the novels of Philip K. Dick, the revised in book form in 1984 as The Novels Of Philip K. Dick appeared. His first two SF novels published in the same year, Icehenge and the award-winning The Wild Shore.

He has taught as a lecturer at various universities, and devoted himself since 1988 all the activities of a writer.

His works often deal with ecological and sociological themes. Many of his novels spring from his fascination with scientific topics, such as his 15 years of research and lifelong enthusiasm for Mars, which led to his most famous work, the Mars trilogy.

He has been married since 1982, lived for some time in Switzerland and today with his wife and two sons in Davis ( California).
