The Kingdom of Hejaz (Arabic al - Hijaz مملكة الحجاز Mamlakat ) was a 1916-1932 existing state in the Hejaz region. It was created in the wake of the Arab Revolt and was until 1925 ruled by the dynasty of the Hashemites. After the conquest by the Saudis, the Kingdom was formed in 1926 from a real union with the Sultanate ( 1927 UK ) Najd. 1932 both kingdoms were united to the Arabic - Saudi Kingdom.

Flags

The flags of the Kingdom of Hejaz go back to a suggestion by Mark Sykes, who designed a flag during the preparations for the Arab revolt for a future pan- Arab state. The colors black, white and green stood for the three Arab dynasties of the Fatimids (green), Umayyad (white) and Abbasid (black). Red was the color of the Sherif of Mecca Added by Hussein to symbolize the rule of his dynasty over the Arabs.
