Kirsten Bråten Berg

Kirsten Bråten Berg ( born 1950 in Arendal ) is a Norwegian folk singer.

Berg graduated in Oslo trained as a silversmith and operates since 1973 a workshop in Setesdalen. Your career as a folk singer began in 1970 when she attended a course at Agnes Buen Garnås. She became well known with the traditional Norwegian song, the Kveding. She has performed in Norway and played recorded several albums. Several times she was awarded the Spellemannpris, the annual prize of the Norwegian record industry, in 1987 she won the Landskappleik, competition in traditional Norwegian music.

Around 1990 she met Arild Andersen, with whom she has since recorded several albums. 1996 was the album Frå Senegal Til Setesdalen in cooperation with the Senegalese musicians Solo Cissokho and Kouame Sereba. Since 2000 she has been in the ensemble Stemmenes Skygge (shadow of the vote) active, which includes also the Dane Marilyn Mazur and the Swede Lena will Mark.
