Kobresia

Two-piece Schuppensegge ( Kobresia simpliciuscula )

The scales harrows ( Kobresia, singular: Schuppensegge ), also known as dandruff Ried are part of species of the plant genus, the family of the Sedge family ( Cyperaceae ). They received their scientific name in honor of Joseph Paul of Kobres ( Cobres ) in Augsburg ( 1747-1823 ), who owned a large natural history collection, the Bavarian State bought up later.

Description

The scales harrows are perennial, mostly turf -forming plants. Its stalk is round or obscurely triangular, it is usually leafy only at the base. The leaves are folded borstlich or narrow and rinnig. The inflorescence is terminal, ährig or narrow panicle. The lower part consists mostly of hermaphroditic spikelets that sit along an axis or in a contracted panicle. The inflorescence is going up in bloom, all-female spikelets on, then in male spikelets. In species with a composite inflorescence this order also applies to the side branches. For the sake of simplicity is any flowers behind a husk than spikelet, even if - as in the genus sedge ( Carex ), which is of course closely related to - the all-male flowers are regarded as flowers rather than a reduced inflorescence. The flowers have no perianth, the number of stamens 3, the pen is usually 3 columns, its base binding. The nuts are usually triangular and surrounded by a Perigynium that the hose ( utricle ) in the genus sedge ( Carex ) corresponds. This Perigynium but is open on one side, the main difference from the hose ( utricle ) of the genus Carex.

System

The genus includes about 57 species that occur mainly in the high mountains of Eurasia, North America and the Arctic. In Europe, only two species occur, the nude Ried and the Two-part Schuppensegge. The Siberian Schuppensegge is not yet proven safe in Europe.
