Kopidlno

Kopidlno is a city in the Czech Republic. It is located 13 kilometers south-west of Jičín and belongs to Okres Jičín.

Geography

Kopidlno located on both sides of the river Mrlina, the city's east feeds the castle ponds.

Neighboring towns are Bílsko in the north, and Pševes Labouň in the northeast, Vršce in the east, in the southeast Cholenice, Budčeves in the south, Mlýnec in the southwest, and Kamensko Křešice in the west and Ledkov in the northwest.

History

Kopidlno was first mentioned as the property of Peter Kopidlanský documented in the year 1322. To let Boček Kopidlanský 1341 next to the old ( upper ) Fixed a second build. Since 1361 a parish school is handed down. Kopidlno was designated as town since the 14th century. The Kopidlanský of Kopidlno were followers of the teachings of Jan Hus and supported George of Podiebrad at his election as king. 1514 received Kopidlno granted town rights by Vladislav II. Under his successor, Louis the city in 1523 was awarded a coat of arms. 1527 acquired Wenzel Haugwitz Biskupitz of the city. He let the new Fixed converted into a Renaissance castle and opened the top festivals on. 1559 was followed by Christoph robes main Sucha ( Robmhap ze Suché ) as the owner of Kopidlno. 1616 acquired the Trček of Lipa Kopidlno and after the Battle of White Mountain Albrecht of Wallenstein 1624 received the goods. After his assassination in 1634 was followed by Siegmund Ludwig von Dietrich stone. 1638 exchanged this Kopidlno with Heinrich Graf silt. 1667 burned down the school. Under Franz Ernst, Count Schlick the reigns Kopidlno and Altenburg were combined to form a family. After his death an inheritance dispute broke out, which was settled in 1757. 1843 lived 1235 people in Kopidlno. After the abolition of patrimonial Kopidlno 1848 for independent city.

1906 died in the castle Mr. Erwin Graf silt without issue. The castle, the family acquired White Wolf, one of which was inherited by her daughter Henriette von Thurn und Taxis. In 1930 the town had 2182 inhabitants. The narrow-gauge railway Kopidlno - Češov was shut down.

Personalities

  • Frantisek Matej Hilmar (1803-1881); the composer and educator living in the city, he created the first polka, whose notes appeared in print.
  • František Vacek Alois (1779-1854); the theologian and writer, was a chaplain in Kopidlno.
  • Joseph Anton Steffan (1726-1797), Composer, Pianist and Piano Teacher of Children of Maria Theresa
  • Anna Honzáková (1875-1940); the physician was the first at the Medical Faculty of the Charles University, earned his fourth wife.
