Kra Buri District

Kra Buri ( Thai: กระบุรี ) is a district ( Amphoe ) in the north of the province of Ranong in southern Thailand.

Geography

Amphoe Kra Buri is by following Amphoe limited (as seen from the northeast clockwise from ): Amphoe Tha Sae, Chumphon and Sawi Mueang Chumphon Province and Amphoe La -un of Ranong province. To the west lies the Tanintharyi Division of Myanmar.

The Maenam Kraburi ( Kraburi River ) is an important water resource. His big mouth area is protected as a wetland under the Ramsar Convention. The eastern bank of the estuary is part of the Lam Nam Kraburi National Park ( Thai: อุทยานแห่งชาติ ลำน้ำ กระบุรี ).

History

Mueang Tra (also: Kra ) was founded under the administration of the province of Chumphon already during the Ayutthaya period " 4th class city " as one. Its first governor was a gentleman Kaew, a cousin of the governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat, he was promoted to Phra Kaew Korop ( พระ แก้ว โกรพ ) later. Mueang Tra was a frontier town of the Kingdom of Ayutthaya. The old city was in today's Tambon Pak Chan. In 1884, Phra Atsadongkhata Thisaraksa moved ( Thai: พระ อัษฎ ง ค ต ทิศ รักษา ) the management, and thus the city center for strategic reasons in Tambon Nam Chuet.

In Mueang Tra found two great battles take place against Burmese invaders, once in 1764 during the reign of King Ekathat and once in 1786 in the Rattanakosin period to the reign of King Phra Phutthayotfa Chulaloke ( Rama I ). During World War II Tra was the site of the Western Division of the Japanese Army, a railroad track built by Kraburi about La Un Mueang Ranong up. Around 1896 Kra Buri was devalued to a county of the province of Ranong.

Management

Amphoe Kra Buri is divided into seven communities ( tambon), which further into 60 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

Chuet Nam ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล น้ำ จืด ) is the name of a small town ( thesaban tambon) in the district, it includes parts of the tambon Nam Chuet.

In addition, there are seven " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
