Krasňany

Krasňany ( until 1927 slovak also " Krasňany "; Hungarian Krasznyán - to 1907 Krasznyan ) is a municipality in the north of Slovakia with 1436 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011) in Okres Žilina, a circle of Žilinský.

Geography

The municipality is located in the eastern part of the basin Žilinská kotlina on the lower reaches of the Varínka at the confluence with the river Kur. In the east, the municipality projects into the Small Fatra, to the mountain Maly Krivan ( 1671 m nm). The center is located at an altitude of 380 m nm and twelve kilometers from Žilina away.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1354 as Karazna writing, but is older origin. This year, the village was repopulated by Žilina right, the first inhabitants were 20 years tax exemption. In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the manor hrad the near Stary. 1828 were counted 56 houses and 466 inhabitants, who were mostly employed in agriculture, and there were limestone quarries in the municipality.

Until 1918, belonged to the county located in the Trenčín place the Kingdom of Hungary and was then Czechoslovakia or Slovakia today.

Population

According to the 2011 census lived in Krasňany 1,430 inhabitants, of whom 1,236 Slovaks, Czechs and one six Moravians, Poles and Ukrainians; 167 inhabitants were of a different ethnicity. 18 inhabitants did not know. 1,161 inhabitants belonged to the Roman Catholic Church, the Evangelical Church of the seven residents, six residents of the Old Catholic Church, two residents of the Orthodox Church and a resident for evangelistic church and the Czechoslovak- Hussite church; a resident had a different denomination. 29 residents were non-denominational and 222 inhabitants, the denomination is not determined.

Attractions

  • Chapel in the baroque style
  • Two country seats next to each other which are connected since the 19th century by a connecting wing. The older country castle was built in 1667-78 in the U- shaped plan, the newer end of the 17th century in the L - shaped plan and both were the seat of Pongrácz family.
