Kreis Bergen

The circle was Putbus 1952-1955 a county on the island of Rügen in the district of Rostock in the GDR.

History

After the end of World War II the district of Rügen, which included the island of Rügen fell into the Soviet occupation zone and was incorporated in the state of Mecklenburg. On July 25, 1952, came in the GDR into a comprehensive district reform, in which, among other countries lost their meaning and new districts were formed. The two new circles Putbus and mountains were formed from the territory of the old district of Rügen.

Traffic

The circle Putbus was tethered by the F96 Saßnitz - Rambin - Berlin to the road network of the GDR. A rail link to the mainland was the Sassnitz - Rambin - Stralsund.
