The circle Hohensalza ( until 1904 Inowrazlaw circle ) in the northeast of the Prussian province of Posen was in the period from 1815 until 1919.

History ( 1772-1807 )

The area around the western Polish city Inowrocław was temporarily after the first partition of Poland from 1772 to 1807 for Netzedistrict in the Prussian province of West Prussia. After the peace of Tilsit, the area was returned to Poland in 1807.

Administrative history

The area around the western Polish city Inowroclaw ( Inowrazlaw ) fell again after the Congress of Vienna on 15 May 1815, the Kingdom of Prussia.

As part of the general reorganization of the circle outline in the Prussian state, a circle Inowrazlaw was redefined on January 1, 1818.

Seat of the district administration has been the county seat Inowrazlaw.

As part of the province of Posen of the circle Inowrazlaw was on 18th January 1871 at the same time part of the newly founded German Empire, whereas the Polish deputies in the new Reichstag on April 1, 1871 protested.

On 1 July 1886, the southern part of the district was Inowrazlaw ( municipality Strelno and police districts Strelno I and II as well as Strelno township and district police Kruschwitz ) separated and formed into a separate new circuit Strelno.

On December 5, 1904, the district was renamed Inowrazlaw circle Hohensalza.

On December 27, began in 1918 in the Posen province of Wielkopolska Uprising of the Polish majority population against German rule, and up to the northern part of the county, together with the city Argenau became the county area within a few days under Polish control. A cease-fire ended on 16 February 1919, the Polish- German battles, and on 28 June 1919, the German government stepped with the signing of the Versailles Treaty, the circle Hohensalza officially to the newly founded Poland from. Germany and Poland concluded on November 25, 1919 an agreement on the evacuation and transfer of the ceded territories, ratified on 10 January 1920. The evacuation of the remaining German-controlled territory, together with the rest of the city Argenau and handover to Poland took place between 17 January and 4 February 1920.

From the circle Hohensalza the Polish powiat Inowrocław was. In 1925 the city Inowrocław was spun off as a separate county from the powiat. 1932, the powiat was enlarged by parts of the dissolved Powiats Strzelno.

The circle Hohensalza initially divided into four, after 1886 in two municipalities, the remaining villages were grouped into police districts. On January 1, 1908, the circuit consists of two municipalities ( Hohensalza and Argenau ), 95 rural communities and agricultural estates was 110.

The circle Hohensalza had recently an area of 1030 km ².

Population

The circle Inowrazlaw had in 1905 61.841 inhabitants. Of these, 70% of Poles and 30 % German. Part of the German inhabitants left after 1919 the area. The newly formed Polish powiat Inowrocław in 1921 to 16% in 1926 11.5 % German population.
