Kriebitzsch is a municipality in the Thuringian district Altenburger Land. It belongs to the administrative community Rositz.

Geography

Geographical location

The municipality is assigned to the Altenburg- Zeitz Lößhügelland and is strongly influenced by the former lignite mining. The former quarry "residual hole Zechau " - located between Monstab, Großröda and the three districts Kriebitzschs - is now a nature reserve with great ecological importance in the mining landscape south of Leipzig. The main town Kriebitzsch located just two kilometers from the nearest town Meuselwitz. The county town of Altenburg is located five kilometers south-east.

Neighboring communities

Adjacent communities are (clockwise) the city Meuselwitz Rositz, Monstab and Stark Mountain in the district Altenburger Land and Elsteraue in Saxony-Anhalt castle district.

Community structure

To Kriebitzsch include the districts Altpoderschau and Zechau. The former places Leesen and Petsa fell victim to the lignite mining and were seed off.

History

In the former sand pit, a Bronze Age hoard was recovered in 1905. In two clay pots there were twelve Ösenhalsringe, two open bracelets and a Randaxt. It could have been a cultic landfill.

The documentary first mention of Kriebitzsch was 1216. Lignite extraction was carried out first in civil engineering, while later opencast mines were disrupted.

20th century

At the time of National Socialism, the German oil-and- Actiengesellschaft (DEA ) in Zechau maintained a warehouse with 96 forced laborers in Kriebitzsch 12 were housed, who had to work in the coal mine brother H. Solf.

1953 LPG was founded.

Incorporations

Altpoderschau was incorporated on 1 January 1973, after it had been combined with Neupoderschau since 1957 to the municipality Poderschau. On 1 August 1977 Zechau was incorporated.

The statistics calls for Kriebitzsch without the later eingemeindeten places 1910 1686, 1925 1900, 1933 1827 and 1939, 1734 inhabitants.

Parish council

Since the local elections of 7 June 2009, the council is composed as follows:

  • THE LEFT - 5 seats ( 42.9 %)
  • SPD - 3 seats (20.5%)
  • FWG - 4 seats ( 36.6 %)

The turnout was 56.0 %.

Mayor

The municipal elections of 1994 won the voters belonging to the community Lutz Kipping with 66.9 % of the votes in the first ballot. In 1999, Bernd Burkhardt of the PDS with 58.3 % in the first ballot by. The re-elected in each of the first ballot in 2004 ( 96.2 %) and 2010 ( 70.3 %).

Traffic

About Kriebitzsch the highway runs 180 from Altenburg to Zeitz. The country road in 2174 leads to winter village, county and township roads open up the two southern districts Altpoderschau and Zechau. The municipality is located in the Central German transport network and is connected by several daily bus services THÜSAC the passenger transport company directly to Altenburg, Meuselwitz and Lucka. Line 412 runs to Leipzig. Kriebitzsch had a breakpoint at the now disused railway line Zeitz -Altenburg.

Established businesses

In the district Zechau there was a briquette. It was built in 1898/1899 and remained until 1991 in operation. The factory was partially reused from mid-1993 as a technical museum. The museum had to be closed, however, and finally the factory was completely demolished in 2003.
