Kristina (singer)

Kristína Peláková ( born August 20, 1987 in Svidník ), better known by her stage name Kristina, is a Slovak singer.

Biography

Kristina began in her childhood, which she spent mostly in Svidník in Slovakia, to sing, dance and play the piano. On the advice of her music teacher, she later attended the Conservatory in Košice. During her music studies, she often visited local music events as well as the regular local jazz club. Here she made the acquaintance of Martin Kavulič that should be Kristina's producer later. Kavulič it was also the one her to a recording contract with the label HoME Production helped.

The first successes

In 2007, she brought together with the rapper Opaque out the single Som tvoja which does not, however, found all too well received. Although the initial enthusiasm gradually gave way, managed to gather with other publications some notable successes. Este váham, which was released in November 2008, achieve, among others, two top - ten finishes in the airplay charts. Participation in the Euro Vision Song Contest

In 2010, Kristina joined the Slovak national preselection for the Euro Vision Song Contest with the turn composed by Martin Kavulič and texted by Kamil Peteraj title Horehronie to. The example provided in the local language song consisted of a mixture of pop and ethno sounds. It was an ode to the eponymous Slovak landscape and tourism region Horehronie.

In the seminar organized on 14 February 2010 first semi-final of the preliminary decision, Kristina reached 31.2 percent of the audience votes and 12 votes as the maximum rating of the jury the first place. They pointed their competitors with almost three times the share of the vote on the following places. Your biggest competitor was the singer Mista. This had secured in the second semi-final of the preliminary decision on February 21, with 14.2 percent of the audience rating and 11 votes of the jury the first place. In addition to Kristina and Mista ten other artists were represented in the final on 27 February.

With 37.6 per cent audience share and 11 jury votes Kristina was able to position according to the jury only on the second place in the final of Euro Song 2010 - Although Mista received only 16.5 percent from the televoting, but got by the jury 12 vote and one vote more than Kristina - which apparently did not reflect the opinion of the audience for the best performance. Due to the greater sympathy with the public in late February they decided to let Kristina take part in the 55th Euro Vision Song Contest in Oslo ..

On 25 May 2010 Kristina appeared with Horehronie in the first ESC semi-final. Although traded as Mitfavoritin victory, she failed to qualify for the final. The singer took less than 17 participants the penultimate place. In Slovakia, the title reached number one in the singles charts ..
