Kung Fu Panda

Kung Fu Panda is an American CGI animation action comedy from DreamWorks Animation in the year 2008. Was directed by Mark Osborne and John Stevenson, the screenplay by Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger.

Action

The panda Po works in his father's noodle restaurant. Soon he will take over it and the famous Secret Noodle Soup, whose last secret ingredient previously known only to the Father prepare. But at night dreaming Po thereof, together with the Furious Five ( Tigress, Crane, Monkey, Mantis and Viper ), the students of the famous kung fu master Shifu, to fight against the evil of his world.

One day is announced that the old Oogway, the head of the Jadepalasts and teacher Shifu, will finally select the legendary Dragon Warrior. According to tradition, only the Dragon Warrior will be able to stand against the terrible danger that threatens the land, when the evil kung fu warrior Tai Lung returns. Po, who actually want to watch only choosing ceremony, but is accidentally locked out, gets through his efforts, but still be able to catch a glimpse of his idols, right into the action and is selected by the wise Oogway. Shifu reluctantly accepts him as a sixth student on, but all attempts to teach him something (or to induce him to give up ), fail; only Pos tenacity and endurance necessary tough fighters from gradually respect. Shifu reluctance is mainly due to the fact that Tai Lung his pupil and beloved foster son was, but this fell under the evil in search of more power. In a long night conversation Oogway Shifu can convince them to take the training of Po into the Dragon Warrior to heart; then enters the old master on his last journey. Finally Shifu realizes how he can train Po successful: He observed the thick Panda, as this breaks under instinctive use acrobatic skills in search of food, the cabinets in the pantry. After his escape from the purpose-built for him Chorh - Gom Prison, Tai Lung makes his way to take revenge and to claim the title of the prestigious Dragon Warrior. The Furious Five throw themselves at him, but shamefully beaten. To survive against Tai Lung, Po gets the holy dragon role that is allowed to read only the Dragon Warrior, and to contain the deepest secret of Kung Fu. But the only content of the role is, strangely, a bright, golden mirror surface.

Desperate about it that even the great mystery of the dragons role has let them down, Shifu orders the evacuation of the village; he Tai Lung is alone, make his biggest mistakes. Po joins his father, and this betrays him nor the secret ingredient of his secret noodle soup: "Nothing " - because that is something special, you just have to believe that it is special. Through these words, Po finally understands the wisdom behind the dragon roll. He rushes Shifu at the last moment to help, as this is already weakened from the fight with Tai Lung. With his newfound confidence, using his powerful physique and finally by applying the secret Wuxi Finger grip he manages to defeat Tai Lung in combat. The villagers can return to their village, the Furious Five Po recognize as one of their own, and Shifu finally finds his inner peace after years again.

Reviews

Todd McCarthy wrote in Variety on 15 May 2008, the film WOULD visually " nice," but he was " difficult formulaic ". The history and slapstick were " perfectly " adapted to the children as an audience, which could provide the desired box office. The situations, characters and motives of those who were " extremely rudimentary " and without nuances.

Kirk Honeycutt wrote in the magazine The Hollywood Reporter May 15, 2008, the film would be as witty as well as hectic and could appeal to audiences of different ages and cultures. The animation is clean and alive.

Awards

The film was nominated in 2008 for the Teen Choice Award and a Golden Trailer Award. He received in 2008 the Box Office Germany Award in Gold for at least 2 million admissions in 20 days. 2009 Kung Fu Panda was nominated for a Golden Globe Award and Academy Award.

Background

The world premiere took place at the International Film Festival of Cannes 2008 ( out of competition ) on May 15, 2008. The film in Berlin was the wide release in theaters launched in Russia on 5 June 2008 and in the U.S. on June 6, 2008. Publicly presented the German press on 23 June 2008 at the Shaolin Temple Germany. The German theatrical release followed on July 3, 2008. Grossed worldwide about 632 million U.S. dollars .. The DVD of the film was released in Germany on 21 November 2008 from Paramount Home Entertainment.

A manga of Japanese authors Hanten Okuma and the mangakas Takafumi Adachi for the film to appear Shoten in Japan in the magazine Kerokero Ace the publisher Kadokawa from September 2008.

The title sequence shows the individual characters in the film, provided with the name of the corresponding prominent English-language speaker and a corresponding Chinese characters. Short Films

  • The 24 -minute Special Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Furious Five appeared as a companion DVD of the deluxe DVD release of the original film and won four Annie Awards. A season is already being broadcast, a second is to follow, all with a total of 52 episodes. The first episode, "The Scorpion 's Sting " ( " The sting of the scorpion ") was aired as a sneak preview on Nickelodeon on September 19, 2011.
