Kurt Svanström

Kurt Svanström (* March 24, 1915, † 16 January 1996), was a Swedish football player. With the Swedish national team, the right runners took part in the World Cup 1938.

Career

Svanström played from the season 1934/35 for Örgryte IS in the Allsvenskan. By his early giants - but the title of Gothenburg clubs all resulted from the period before the introduction of the Allsvenskan as top tier - he placed in the middle table space. On the side of Victor Carlund, Carl- Erik Holmberg, Yngve Lindegren and Erik Granath he established himself in the course of time in stem formation and recommended for the Swedish national selection, in which he debuted in June 1937 as part of the qualification for the World Cup finals in 1938. In his first international match he shone in a 4-0 win over Finland in addition to Erik Persson and the doubly successful Lennart Bunke as the scorer.

In the following internationals in June Svanström was one of the players used before it is no longer included in the second half. Nevertheless, he was part of the team squad at the World Cup tournament in the following summer. On the side of Sven Jacobsson and Erik Almgren, he belonged to the quarter and semi-finals of the runners in the Swedish series 2-3 5 system. In the match for third place, which was lost to Brazil, he starred alongside Erik Almgren and Arne Linder Holm in midfield. This remained his only three matches during the year, in 1939 he came to further international appearances. After ten games and scored after the national team career was completed in the summer of 1939. In the following season 1939/40, the Second World War and the consequent military service in the spring of 1940 developed to the detriment of the club: next to the retracted Svanström missed the regulars Otto Andersson, Harry Zachrisson, Stig Pettersson, Yngve Lindegren and Harry Jansson in the second half all Away games and came to the home games partially untrained used.
