La Favière

La Favière is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

La Favière is located on 814 m above sea level. M., about nine kilometers east of the city Champagnole (air line). The farming village extends in the Jura, on the plateau south of the Val de Mièges and east of the basin in which is located the source of the Ain.

The area of ​​2.78 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The main part of the territory occupied by the plateau of La Favière, the average at 830 m above sea level. M. lies. It rises to the south gradually, has only very small differences in relief and is mostly covered by meadows and pastures. On a hilltop in the hallway Les Bataille is 885 m above sea level. M. reached the highest peak of La Favière. The western boundary is formed by the steep drop to the valley with the Ainquelle. The high surface has no surface watercourses, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground. In the north the municipality area dates back to the Valley of the Serpentine down (inflow of Ain).

Neighboring communities of La Favière are Rix in the north, Billecul in the east, the south and Gillois Nozeroy in the West.

History

Traces of a Roman road traffic suggest was that the municipality of La Favière committed very early on and eventually settled. In the Middle Ages La Favière formed its own little rule, which was dependent on Nozeroy. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.

Attractions

La Favière has a built in 19th century Oratory. Among the natural attractions include the nearby karst spring of Ain.

Population

With 30 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) La Favière one of the smallest towns in the Jura. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1891 112 people were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1990s.

Economy and infrastructure

La Favière was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by agriculture, especially dairy farming and livestock village. Even today, the inhabitants live on the merits of the activity in the first sector. Outside of the primary sector there are no jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the surrounding larger towns of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares near a secondary road that leads from Nozeroy to Les Planches -en- Montagne. Further road links exist with Conte and Billecul.
