La Malachère

La Malachère is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

La Malachère situated at an altitude of 285 m above sea level, 4 km north of Rioz and about 24 km north of the city of Besançon (air line). The former village street lines extends to the south of the department, in the northern part of the plateau of Rioz, the heights of the Grands Bois.

The area of ​​5.46 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the undulating landscape between the river valleys of the south and Ognon Saône in the northwest. The main part of the area is occupied by the plateau of Rioz, which is on average 280 m. It consists of an alternation of calcareous and sandy- marly layers of the upper Jurassic period and is drained south to Buthiers. The plateau is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land. In the north- west of the municipality floor extends to the height of the Bois des Rêpes, on the 380 m, the highest peak of La Malachère is achieved. To the east the area extends to the Grands Bois, a wooded area ( to 340 m), which separates the plateau from Rioz from the Valley of Quenoche.

Neighboring communities of La Malachère are Hyet in the north, the east, and Quenoche Traitiéfontaine and Rioz the south and west.

History

Is first mentioned La Malachère in 1235 under the name Mereschyere. Over time, the spelling and Male Sheer ( 1274), La Malechiere ( 1591 ) and La Mallechere ( 1614) transformed to the present name, which has been handed down since 1700. The name goes back to the Old French word mare sheer ( bog, swamp ).

In the Middle Ages La Malachère belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The barony Fondremand was responsible for the local control of the village. Together with the Franche- Comté reached La Malachère with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today La Malachère is a member of the comprehensive 28 villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Pays Riolais. Ecclesiastical it belongs to Rioz.

Population

With 194 inhabitants ( 1999) La Malachère one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1896 189 persons were still counted ), a continuous population growth was recorded since the early 1980s again.

Economy and infrastructure

La Malachère was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who do their work in the larger towns in the area and agglomeration in Besançon.

The village has good transport links. It lies on the main road N57, which runs from Besancon to Vesoul. Further road links exist with Trésilley and Hyet.
