Laco Déczi

Laco Deczi ( born March 29, 1938 in Bernolákovo ) is a Slovak jazz trumpeter. He is considered a pioneer of the hard bop in Czechoslovakia.

Life and work

Deczi had a band that was based on hard bop been to Bratislava. In the 1960s he was a member of Karel Velebnýs SHQ in Prague. In 1967 he founded his band Celula, played in the talented musicians as Rudolf Dašek, Karel Růžička and Laco Tropp. In 1969, he released his debut album pietoso. He was also a soloist on Václav Zahradníks album Jazz Goes to Beat and belonged to tschechoslawkischen Radio Jazz Orchestra since 1970. Mid 1980s emigrated Deczi first in the Federal Republic of Germany, 1987 in the United States, where he still lives. In his music today mix fusion and bop. He also composed music for film and television and worked with Elvin Jones, Bill Watrous, Junior Cook, Dave Weckl and Sonny Costanzo.

The Louis Armstrong's widow gave Deczi whose trumpet mouthpiece.
