Lacritin

Lacritin is a protein in mammals, which is secreted in human acini of the lacrimal gland and even increases the secretion of tears. Lacritin binds to collagen IV, fibronectin and laminin -1 molecules of corneal epithelial cells and triggers the NFAT and mTOR signaling pathways of these cells. Lacritin system can also cause dose-dependent sprouting of salivary gland cells in motion. In blepharitis and dry eye syndromes two the Lacritinexpression is reduced.
