Lagunillas, Santa Cruz
Lagunillas is a village in the department of Santa Cruz in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Lagunillas is the central place of the district ( bolivian: Municipio) Lagunillas in the province of Cordillera. The village lies at an altitude of 917 m at a right tributary of the Río Ñancahuazú, which drains to the Rio Grande down.
Geography

History
In 1780 a post was established to promote the colonization of Creole cattle ranchers in the region Lagunillas by the colonial administration. On April 24, 1855 Lagunillas was officially founded in 1864 and received the status of the capital of the province of Cordillera.
The community became in the 20th century a certain level of recognition, as the revolutionary Che Guevara began in late 1966 here with his guerrilla activities and near a northern settlement on Ñancahuazú opened a base camp.
