Lake Quinault Lodge

The Lake Quinault Lodge is a historic mountain hotel on the southeast shore of Lake Quinault in the Olympic National Forest in Washington state.

History

A first " Log Hotel " was built in the 80s of the 19th century at Lake Quinault. In 1924 it was destroyed by a fire. Following the example of the Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone National Park Work started on the construction of today's main building as rustic but comfortable mountain hotel. The building was richly decorated with carvings and other handicrafts. 1926, the Lodge was opened. On October 1, 1937, U.S. President Roosevelt visited the lodge during his fact-finding visit by the Olympic Peninsula. During lunch, the establishment of a national park was the topic of conversation, which was nine months later established as Olympic National Park. In 1998, the Lodge was entered in the National Register of Historic Places. Today's lodge consists of six buildings. The two-story, clapboard -clad main house sits on a hill overlooking the lake and contains thirty hotel rooms and the spacious lobby.
