Lake Thun railway line

The Lake of Thun railway (TSB ) is a former railway company in Switzerland and existed from 1890 to 1913.

History

In 1890, the Lake Thun Railway received a concession for a railway from Scherzligen at Thun via Spiez Därligen. This route linked as a replacement for the previously circulating railway ferry the endpoint of the Central Railway in Thun with the starting point of Bödelibahn to Interlaken. The latter was opened in 1872, though initially in isolated operation.

On 1 June 1893, the company started its operations and leased also equal to the continuation of Därligen to Interlaken Ost of the Bödelibahn. On January 1, 1900, she took over the Bödelibahn completely, from now on the trains have also been performed to Bönigen of the TSB. Under their management it was also opened on July 25, 1901 Spiez -Lenk -Bahn, the first stage of the Lötschberg line.

On 1 January 1913, the Lake Thun Railway merged with the Bern -Lötschberg- Simplon -Bahn and went on in this.

On the section Interlaken East Bönigen the former Bödelibahn passenger services were discontinued on May 31st 1969. Parts of the trail has been preserved as access to the main workshop of the BLS in Bönigen.
