Lancelot de Saint-Maard

Lancelot de Saint- Maard ( † after 1278 ) was a Marshal of France in the 13th century.

With five more knights in his entourage Lancelot took crusade to Africa ( 1270) under King Louis IX. in part. He distinguished himself in the battle for Carthage, where he was almost killed after his helmet was badly damaged in the melee. However, he was not rescued in time by the Constable de Beaujeu.

After the marshals Renaud de Précigny and Heric de Beaujeu had died on the crusade, Lancelot was appointed together with Raoul Sores on the new marshal. The last time he was mentioned in documents in 1278.
