Lançon-Provence

Lancon -Provence is a commune with 8399 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bouches -du -Rhône in the Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur.

Geography

The village lies on a hill, 30 kilometers west of Aix -en- Provence and six kilometers south of Salon-de -Provence. To Lancon seven kilometers east hamlet on La Val de Sibourg heard on the Canal de Marseille. In the northwest, the municipality has a share in the airfield of the Patrouille de France, the official aerobatic team of the French Air Force.

Culture and sights

In Lancon a consecration inscription was found from the Roman period for an otherwise unknown god Accorus.

The main attraction of the place is the ruined castle, it belonged to the nobility of Les- Baux -de- Provence. The Chapel of St- Cyr is from the 11th century. The village has many old portals from the 17th and 18th centuries.

Transport links

Through the municipal area leads the Autoroute du Soleil. Lancon is with tourists especially for its toll station ( Gare de Péage de Lancon ) known. To get to the A7 motorway, one the driveway in Salon-de -Provence six kilometers away, however, must use.
