The Langbathseen, the Front and the Rear Langbathsee lie, 8 kilometers west of Ebensee (Salzkammergut ) at the foot of Höllengebirge.

Geography and landscape

Nature reserve, lake

The two lakes are located in a long valley which extends between the actual limestone massif of Höllengebirge and a Flyschkette. They are characterized by crystal-clear water of drinking water quality.

The Front Langbathsee is on the Langbathsee road ( L1297 ) to reach by car.

Front Langbathsee

The Front Langbathsee is good 1.1 kilometers long and almost half a kilometer wide. Its deepest point is 33 meters below the water level. He is a nature reserve ( N010, 36.5546 ha ) were reported.

The Rear Langbathsee is 600 meters long and 400 meters wide. Its deepest point is 13 meters below the water level. The lake is also nature reserve ( N011, 12.4674 ha) ..

The Rear Langbathsee is hardly used as a lake, its water quality is classified only as good because of the higher proportion of biomass ( algae), with respect to the bathing water classification is the water quality good ( best).
