Lars Björn

Lars Gunnar Raldo " Lasse " Björn ( born December 16, 1931 in Stockholm ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player. His grandson Douglas Murray is also a professional hockey player.

Career

At club level, Lars Björn played exclusively for Djurgårdens IF. From 1949 to 1966, he joined with his team in Division 1, the then highest Swedish league, at. In the years 1950, 1954, 1955, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962 and 1963, he won the Swedish Djurgårdens IF each title.

Internationally

For Sweden, Lars Björn took part in the Winter Olympics in Oslo in 1952 and 1956 in Cortina d' Ampezzo in 1960 in Squaw Valley. At the Winter Games in 1952 he won the bronze medal with his team. As the best European team Sweden was also European champion. In addition, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in 1953, 1954, 1957 and 1958. At the World Championships in 1954 and 1958, he won with his team the bronze, respectively, at the World Championships in 1953 and 1957 respectively the gold medal. At the World Championships in 1953 and 1957 he was also European champion with Sweden.
