Leatherwolf

Leather Wolf is an American heavy metal band from Huntington Beach ( California). The band especially for the use of three lead guitars, the so-called Triple Axe Attack is known.

History

The band was founded in 1981 in Huntington Beach. At first she was oriented music mainly in the European NWOBHM movement.

From the very beginning of the band featured three guitarists, a figure which was still performed later by bands like Iron Maiden to greater awareness. Leatherwolf to Live earned quickly gained a reputation in her home and left at a concert in 1982, Metallica occur as the opening act.

In 1983 the band recorded their first demo tape and a year later, a self-titled EP, which was released at the independent label Tropical Records. 1985 this EP was then supplemented by five additional tracks and released in the U.S. again under the album name Leatherwolf. For the international publication you named the album in Endangered Species.

1986, the bassist Matt Hurich got out of the band to play at the Christian metal band Stryper. A short time later, Paul Carman his post.

The second album was released in 1988 and also bears the title Leatherwolf, although it does not include a single title of the first album. It was published in the major label Iceland Records and is strongly influenced by the glam metal, which was commercially very successful in the U.S. at this time.

For the recording of the third album Street Ready, the band went to Nassau in the Bahamas. It was published in 1989 also in Iceland Records. Due to the lack of commercial success, the label of the band but their record deal announced shortly after the shooting. Then the band broke up.

Just ten years later, in 1999, the members of the band were back together and played in the same year, the band self-released an appearance at Wacken Open Air, a live album entitled Wide Open, which without the help of a record label more than 10,000 customers took.

The former singer Michael Olivieri left in 2000 Leatherwolf year and was briefly replaced by Chris Adams, which einsang 2002, three songs for a demo recording. A short time later, however, Michael Olivieri returned and in 2003 took also a demo, but then left the band again. This time he was replaced by former Racer X vocalist Jeff Martin, who was involved in another demo recording of three songs. In July 2005, the band then announced a surprise that the former Seven Witches and Crimson Glory singer Wade Black is responsible for the vocals in the future.

In October of that year, the band began to record their fourth album World Asylum. Michael Olivieri can be heard on the album also. He played some songs a guitar parts and took over the background vocals. As a bassist Pete Perez acted now, which previously participated at Riot and Spastic Ink. The mixing of the album took over the well-known producer Jacob Hansen.

In March 2006, signed Leatherwolf a record deal with Massacre Records, after the album was released in June at this same label. Shortly after the founding member Carey Howe got out and his role was taken over by Eric Halpern, who played previously with Helstar. In this constellation, the band performed at the Bang Your Head Festival in Balingen and on the ProgPower VII Festival in Atlanta.

A year later, the band in the original line-up formed new, with Michael Olivieri on vocals and guitar and Carey Howe on guitar. It was followed by a headlining appearance at the Keep It True Festival and the release of the album New World Asylum. This was a new recording of their 2006 comeback album released World Asylum with Michael Olivieri as a singer.

In the spring of 2008, the co-founder dropped out of band Geoff Gayer and Paul Carman. They were replaced by Patrick Guyton and Greg Erba.
