Keep It True

The Keep It True is a 2003 to 2008 twice, from 2009 instead of once a year -find music festival with bands from the more traditional Metal. It was created by Tarek Maghary ( singer of the heavy metal band Majesty) and Oliver Weinheimer ( editor of the magazine "Rock Hard" ), mainly as a festival " by fans for fans " and is taking in Lauda- Königshofen in the Tauberfrankenhalle instead.

Originally planned as a one-day Saturday event, Keep It True has been extended to an official warm -up show on Friday for the second year. During the first warm-up show still near the venue took place in a tent on the grounds of the alibi, he was transferred to this KIT III in the parish basement in Lauda. However, since this area had become too small for the next festival, they moved into the small sports hall in Dittigheim where the warm-up show was held to KIT VIII. For the warm-up show a special ticket had to be purchased. From the KIT KIT VII to IX was in November, only a small festival in Dittigheim without a warm -up show.

The KIT X took place in April 2008 in the Tauberfrankenhalle in Lauda- Königshofen first time rather than a full-fledged two-day event. With the eleventh edition of the festival in November 2008, which took place once in Würzburg, finished one which takes place twice a year editions. Since April 2009, the festival takes place once a year in April as a two-day event without a warm -up show instead.

Special

The band selection does not follow the usual guidelines of a typical mainstream festivals: Mostly occur international bands that can be assigned to the Heavy and Power Metal spectrum. Since there are hardly any such specialized festivals, to Keep It True pleased since the beginning of a solid fan base in the scene and is now on the federal boundaries a fixed size.

As a headliner, there were already big names like Virgin Steele, Riot, Jag Panzer or omens. Particular attention was paid to the festival, when bands like Deadly Blessing or Torch completed her first stage appearance for several years on the Keep It True. Not infrequently travel to even fans from abroad, in order not to miss the reunion of their favorite group.

The relatively low entry prices realized the festival with the help of some well-known sponsors such as Massacre Records, or the Rock Hard and numerous volunteers, further Keep It True is not hosted fulltime and is accordingly of not for profit maximization.

Criticism

Chance there was by the press bad marks for bands that were obviously due to long hiatus poorly recorded (eg, Hallows Eve ), or in which the sound is not in line with expectations (eg, Agent Steel, Virgin Steele ). Organization and running of the festival, however, were judged unanimously positive.

Publications

At the concerts each DVDs or LPs appear. For KIT X on April 4th and 5th 2008 also the Keep It True History Book appeared. The book contains reviews and photos of all previous Keep- It- True festivals and short utterances of many bands that have played at the Keep It True.
