Lee Byung-hun

Lee Byung -hun ( born July 12, 1970 in Seoul, South Korea) is a South Korean actor. He is known for roles in Park Chan- wook's Joint Security Area, GI Joe - The Rise of Cobra and the TV series IRIS.

Career

Lee competed in 1991 KBS Super Talent Audition and was taken, he made his debut in the television drama Asphalt My Hometown. His breakthrough was in the movie Joint Security Area (2000) by Park Chan -wook. He played alongside Lee Yeong- ae and Song Kang -ho, a border guard soldiers. The film was a commercial success and successful with the critics. He broke records with the highest grossing in Korean history. Lee's performance earned him Best Actor jointly with Song Kang -ho at the Pusan Film Critics Awards. The following year he played the lead role in the film Bungee Jumping of Their Own ( 2001) as a man whose girlfriend dies and is reborn as a boy.

In 2001 he played the lead role in the television series Beautiful Days. He played Lee Min - chul, an arrogant entrepreneur (played by Choi Ji- woo) falls for an innocent orphan. In 2003 he played the lead role in the drama All In. Lee was awarded the Grand Prize of the SBS drama Awards and Best Actor at the Baeksang Arts Awards. 2004 Lee appeared in the romantic comedy Everybody Has Secrets.

In 2005 he received acclaim for his performance in Kim Jee - woon's film A Bittersweet Life, which was shown at the Cannes Film Festival. Lee was nominated for Best Actor at the Blue Dragon Awards and Grand Bell Awards and won at the Chunsa Film Art Awards, Paeksang Arts Awards and Critics Choice Awards. He also appeared in the romance film Once in a Summer.

He played his first villain role in The Good, the Bad, the Weird a Korean western film directed by Kim Jee - woon. The film revolves around three men who want to acquire a treasure map in a race and was also a great success. In 2009, he then made his American debut as Storm Shadow in GI Joe - Rise of Cobra

End of 2009, Lee returned to the TV action thriller Iris with Kim Tae- hee and Kim So -yeon. He played the role of Hyun -jun, a secret agent finds himself in the center of an international conspiracy. It was one of the most expensive shows, which was produced at different locations such as Hungary, Japan, and South Korea. It became one of the highest rated dramas of 2009, and his performance earned him the Grand Prix at the KBS Acting Awards and Best Actor Theatre in the Baeksang Arts Awards.

2010 Lee has played with Choi Min -sik in the film I Saw the Devil Kim Jee - woon of. He played Soo- hyun, a secret agent tracks a serial killer who murdered his fiancée. In 2012, he returned as Storm Shadow in G.I. Joe - The settlement back. 2013 plays Lee in the U.S. film RED 2 alongside Bruce Willis, Catherine Zeta -Jones, Helen Mirren and John Malkovich, which a continuation of the action comedy RED - Older, hardener, is better. The film came in the German cinemas in September 2013.

Other works

Lee served as a model for the main character of the video game Lost Planet Capcom, which was released in early 2007.

Lee founded the management agency BH Entertainment which many actors including Han Ga - in, Han Ji- min and maintained at Sohee. He also owns a business BHNC, the hats, scarves and wallets sold.

Private life

He has a younger sister, Lee Eun- hee, the Miss Korea in 1996 was. He graduated from Hanyang University with a major in French Literature and the Graduate School of Chung- Ang University with a focus on theater and film. On August 10, 2013 he married the actress Lee Min -jung.
